In 2018, I built this articulated hard-surface asset in about 3 weeks. I added extra details to help sell the large scale and made sure panels and controls read well in VR at different character heights like Hulk or Rocket Raccoon. This was the most enjoyable part of the process.
Before getting there, most of the work was blocking, organizing mirrored and quarter-reusing parts, meeting the polycount, and testing articulation so pivot points were ready for the rigging team.
